Ouret (uret, Ureta)

OURET (URET, URETA)

This surname was originally found in Mauelon (Zuberoa), Benabarra and in Laburdi.

This surname is a variation of URETA and so I will take the meaning from that name, which comes from a known palace in Eneriz (in the province of Navarra) which is also called Uretarena (means the house of Ureta). The word Ureta mean "the waters" from Ur (water) and eta (plural suffix).

The coat of arms for URETA is: On a field of silver, a green tree flanked by red stars (one on either side of the tree trunk).

I hope this is interesting and helpful.

I am trying to find information on Pierre Ouret, who settled in Bakersfield and Kern County, CA in about 1913. He married Frances Tuculet in 1918 in Bakersfield. Pierre died, possibly in San Bernardino County, CA, between 1921 and 1930. The family thinks he was run over by a train. Does anyone out there have any information on the Ouret or Tuculat families?
I will look forward to hearing from anyone who can help.
Many thanks,
Ann Carroll

Hi all... here is a traditional Basque recipe you might enjoy. I know they are getting harder and harder to find. I'll never forget the time we at dinner in a Basque restaurant in Washington DC. Great memories! :)
Anyway, Enjoy...

Basque Chicken
Serves 6

2 teaspoons olive oil
1 teaspoon paprika
1/3 teaspoon black pepper
1 1/2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breast tenders
3 cloves garlic, pressed
1/3 cup sliced green olives
30 ounces canned diced tomatoes with chilies, un-drained
1/3 cup finely chopped Prosciutto
3 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sprinkle paprika and pepper over chicken tenders and saute for 4 minutes; add garlic and turn chicken. Add olives and tomatoes. Bring to a boil then reduce heat and simmer for 6 minutes. Remove chicken from skillet.

Sprinkle chopped Prosciutto and parsley in the skillet; serve sauce over chicken.

With smiles,
~Nikki

Carol
I have a feeling Jean Pierre Marro Ouret was my great grandpa. I do know he came from France around 1912 and moved to Colorado. The western slope, Montrose and Grand Junction. Jean married Catherine Larralde (my great grandma) in 1917 in Montrose, CO. Her fathers name was Pierre Larralde and mothers name Jeanne Landaburu.

The Etcheverry name sounds familiar, I remember my family talking about it, but I can not remember the details.

Please feel free to email.

I'm looking for Ouret families either in USA, France or Argentina whose grandparents came from the St.Jean Pied De Port.France.My grandfather born in Ispoure, France, Jean Paul Etcheverry and he had a sister Jeanne Etcheverry married a Pierre Ouret in Ispoure. Aunt Jeanne died at an early age of 21 years old, leaving two children, Maria Marro Ouret and Jean-Pierre Marro Ouret and a husband Pierre M. Ouret. Maria Ouret later married Pierre Teillagorry and and Pierre the son married butI do not have the wife's name. The Pierre family had three children, Claudette, Jean-Claude and Pierre. One son has died. The Teillagory family have 5 children, Odette, Marie-Dominque,Michele,Bernard and Peyot. All of these children and their families live in the Basque country of France.
I am also related to the Pecoitz of Aincelle, and the Etchemendy of St Jean Pied De Port and the Larralde of Colorado/France. I would like to hear from family members close or distant. The Etcheverrys are having small reunion Sept 10th - 18th, 2005 in Grand Junction, Colorado. looking forward of hearing from YOU!
