LOIDI en Regil, Amezketa, Zizurkil, Idiazabal, Urretxu y Angiozar, todo ellos en Gipuzkoa

Significado, el mas probable es lodazal, de LOI (lodo o barro), y el sufijo DI que indica abundancia

Escudos: La casa de Regil: en sinople tres fajas de plata cargada cada una de ellas de un jabali andante de sable

Otros en Regil y Amezketa; En oro tres fajas de azur (en algunas versiones, de gules), cargada cada una de ellas de una estrella de oro

Esto aparece en el Diccionario Onomastico y heraldico vasco de J. Kerexeta, en libros mas modernos del mismo autor, he encontrado lo siguiente

En Idiazabal hay una casa Loidi azpikoa (Loidi la de debajo)

En Regil hay o habia tres casas Loidi: Loidi azpikoa, Loidi garakoa (la de arriba), y Loido saletxe, la segunda tenia capilla en 1625

En el barrio Ergoena de Idiazabal hay una casa Loidi Zelai (campa Loidi)

Hay casas Loidi en Amezketa, Renteria, Getaria, Zizurkil y en Zumarraga

Martin de Loidi, vecino de Urretxu en su fundacion en 1383

Otra casa Loidi en el barrio Osi=F1aga en Hernani

En Angiozar, Elgeta (municio Bergara) hay tres casas loidi (Loidi, Loidi bolu, y Loidi etxeberri)

En el barrio Landetxa o katea (ventas) de Irun dos casas (loidi y Loidi berr= i)

Juanes Loidi probo hidalguia en Tolosa en 1611. Ignacio Loidi en Berastegi en 1744. Felipe Antonio Loidi en Donostia en 1775. Juan Antonio Loidi garciarena hidalguia en Tolosa en 1793 (era natural de Leaburu). Carlos Loidi sagastume, hidalguia en Amezketa en 1774

Thank you for the great job you are doing, for years I was looking for some roots about my name, I was born in Cuba and now I live in the United States, there it's only one LOIDI family actually living in Cuba, my uncle wich his mother came from a region or town named Otanez (should be a tilde over the n) I believe in Santander, besides that only my son and my self carry that last name. I don't know if this info will help your research or maybe somebody see this note and can tell me if I have relatives in that part of the World. That will be great.
