My father's name is Pedro Irizarry-Marrero and my Grandfather "Papi Pedro" also from Puerto Rico. I live in Northwest Indiana, twenty minutes away from Chicago. I am proud to say that I have passed the strong name of Irizarry onto my three children (two of which or boys-so it will carry on)!!! I have two brothers William and Pedro who have also had many sons. I not only carry the last name on but I was gifted in carrying on my Grandfather's name Ernesto from my mother's side which I have named one of my sons and my other son carries my uncle's name - Noe. Our daughter Angelique has said she will keep the name Irizarry after marriage. I am so proud of my lastname that I have had it tattooed across my back and my 18 yr old son has had it tattooed on his rib cage and my youngest son has already decided his will be on his back also. The Irizarry's were very well known in the Guayanilla area. I've heard that my last name (Irizarry) originated in the Bosque region of Spain so reading some of these comments is VERY INTERESTING!
