Any way, my greatgrandfather's name is Patrick Aráoz, his father married with a english lady, if somebody got more information I ll be very thankfull, my email is hushwaves@yahoo.co.uk

Hi everyone, I'm a 16-year boy from argentina, proud of my surname... humm I don't manage a lot of English but it's funny to know I can contact people with my same surname. Humm, I believe an Aráoz brach came here to Argentina a long time ago (no exact idea), and know the internal history within my country, but would like to know further information about how we came here! Thanks a million, Manuel.
Pd. Ohh please contact me by mail please, because I don't think i'll check this page so often. |

According to family history, the Baron Miguel de Araoz (circa 1850's)went to Cuba from Oviedo and settled in Trinidad, Cuba. The title of Baron came along with lands in Cuba that included the Bequer Palace (was in ruins in the late 1950's). This was due to work done for the spanish monarchs. He married Amalia Ledesma and they had 14 children of whom the youngest, Benjamin de Araoz, was my grandfather.Five of my greataunts became nuns, four MM Escolapias who professed in Barcelona, Spain in 1902 and one that became "abadesa de las Clarisas" in Havana.Of the ones that went to Spain only one returned to Cuba. I have obtained information from the Escolapia historian in Rome regarding their biographies.
I have been researching for many years and hope to visit Guipuzcoa to do more research.
Please share any information you may have regarding this branch of the Araoz family.

Another principle branch of the Araoz family moved from Guipuzcoa en the early 1800's to settle in Avila until the mid 1800's then relocated to Medina del Campo which some still reside there. We are directly related to
the Fernandez de Araoz (apellidos compuestos) clan that has created a very afluent name for itself. |

A branch of the Araoz settled in Cuba also, and formed two separate branches that have been there for several centuries. They settled in Sagua la Grande, Trinidad, Camaguey, Guanabacoa, and in the late 19th and early 20th century, in Havana.
During the Cuban Revolution in the early 1960s, part of that branch came to the United States.
