Spring 2008: Sherry Morrison is one of the charter members of NMEE. In fact, the first official meeting, in which the first provisional board was elected, was held at Sherry's house. Sherry has proved an invaluable resource to the club, always willing to help out in any way possible. In this member portrait Sherry describes her Basque ancestry and her move, with her husband Paul, to Santa Fe.

Fall 2006: Lorin Abbey has become a very active member of NMEE over the past year. She really pitched in during the 2006 Tapas and Wine Event and was a key to the success of our participation in the Santa Fe Fiesta Parade. She is a very successful businesswoman in Santa Fe, specializing in Real Estate -- you may have seen her advertisements in our newsletters. In this member portrait, Lorin describes how her Basque ancestory helps her through the tough times.

Summer 2006: Some of you might know Samuel Ulibarri from his stint on the NMEE board in our founding year of 2005. He grew up in Santa Fe, but spent a lot of time with his grandparents in Los Brazos. He is currently finishing his degree in Anthropology at UNM. Samuel takes a moment out of his busy schedule to tell us about his passion for his ancestors and what he hopes to see from NMEE in the future. Read the full portrait to learn more about Samuel.

Spring 2006: Ron Paneboeuf grew up in Albuquerque but spent a lot of time with family in the Vaughn and Santa Rosa areas. His father's family was from the Basque Country. Ron spent many years after high school in the Army, during which time he traveled extensively in Asia and Africa. In 1999, he finally made it to the Basque Country, spending 3 months hiking around that area and the rest of northern Spain. Read the full portrait to learn more about Ron.
