Hello Members,
My knwoledge about Basque people is very limited.I just know that Basques live in France/Spain and their language is probably not related to any other language in the world.
I joined this site becoz I've been thrown out twice from a history forum. On that forum I came across a Basque whose ID is Maju.He has got the most number of posts on that forum.More importantly his knowledge amazed me.
I'm not sure if I'd be able to contribute anything to this forum.
My name is Dinesh Mohan Raturi.27 M from India living in S Korea for the past 2 1/2 years.
Herez a website of my people if you are interested please take a look.
http://www.uttaranchal.ws
Regards,
Dinesh Mohan Raturi.
OK maybe I should have introduced myself in another section but that's the way I am in real life.I always hurry things .

Dhanyavad {thanx} Jabal Bhai {brother}.You are welcome to visit Uttaranchal.I miss my mountains.
I keep watching & posting pics of mountains on net so that I don't forget them. There are no mountains in S Korea, only hills.I climbed Mount Soraksan in January 2004.Temperature was -23 degrees celcius.
PS:Jabal Bhai a question for you.Guess the mountain in pic above & please tell me what does your signature mean.

Mount Kailash in Tibet. It's the holiest of Megaliths for Hindus,Buddhists & Jains. It's located in Tibet {China}.
Kaixo=how are you?
adiskidetasunez---good...but I find it very different from my mother tongue Hindi & my second language English.Very long.Is Basque language related in some way to agglutanative languages like Tamil, etc.
Sorry for all these questions but I find learning from individuals better than learning from books & internet.
Hey our megalith is bigger than urz
Are there any Basque music clips on the net.I love music & learnt from Maju on history forum that Basque understanding of music is very different.Roma music is too loud for the Basques.Do you know Roma originated from India?

hey jhangora, glad to have you on site, its nice to have other people intersted in our culture and language. O and by the way "Kaixo" means "hello", but that depends on what part of the basque country you are in. Where my family is from and the dialect that they speak we say "agur" for hello. In spanish basque territory, agur just means goodbye, but in the french basque country (for the most part) agur means both hello and goodbye. (hope that made some sense) If you want to say "how are you?" you can ask "nola zira?" or "zer moduz?" (zer moduz literally meaning, "whats new?")
basque is an agglutinating language, but it isn't related to any known languages anywhere in the world at the moment, "they" (they being the scholars of the basque language and what not) believe that maybe the basque language and culture and people is actually of celtic origins (i.e. Irish, scottish, etc). But then again, what do "they" know? lol, I like to think we are all by ourselves, an indiginous people with no ties to anybody else lol. Well, welcome to the site, hope that helped out a little bit. (anybody can correct me if the facts that i gave are a little off...)
Agur, gero arte.

hello,
I live in Iparralde (french side of the basque country). I speak euskara (basque), and it's my mother language... i learn french, i was 11..
About the relationship between euskara and other languages, i found some documents on internet, i don't know if it is true or not, but it might be interesting to read them.
* THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN BASQUE AND THE ESKIMO LANGUAGE
http://www.highspeedplus.com/~edonon/inuit.html
* THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN BASQUE AND JAPANESE LANGUAGE

best regards.
