Looking for a Pen-Pal? Or are you interested in becoming a pen-pal with someone? Just add a note here saying who you are and
what you are looking for in a pen-pal.
A pen-pal is someone you write with, trading emails or letters and learning about the other person. It is a great way to learn about other cultures and peoples and, specifically here, a way for people to learn about Basques both in the Basque Country and away.

Hello
My name is David Ormaetxea. My father is from the Basque country. When I was a kid, I would always go to Euzkadi during the summer for vacation. After High School here in the states, I decided that I wanted to follow my father's foot steps and play Jai-Alai at the professional level. I moved to Bermeo, Spain and became a pelotari. I played there for 2 and a half years before being sent to Tijuana, Mexico. I played there for 4 years, and then I retired.I met this wonderful young lady from Tijuana, and we got married 1995 in Tijuana,Mexico. Now I live in San Diego,Ca. I love EUZKADI, and some day when I retire, I will move back to Euzkadi.
GORA EUZKADI!!!! |

| An author and English teacher in China, I was born in the USA 46 years ago. This is my 20th year in China. I am a Christian and my brother is a scientist living in Spain by the Med.Sea. He has told me a bit about Basques and the beautiful green country there. Much to learn and more to write, I want to meet a Basque friend-- a European whose history is as old as the country where I live. We westerners also have a rich heritage. |

Kaixo!
My name is Jason Miller and I am a 45 year old (non-Basque) man from Ohio in the United States. I am looking for a Basque penpal from Bayonne France.
I recently finished writing a novel that will educate westerners about the culture of Japan. But I also have a character who is an exchange student (a girl) named Miren Eyzaguirre from Bayonne. I would like to further develop that character in a sequal and it would be great to have a penpal, preferably a girl, from Bayonne to help me develop that character.
I am a big fan of Basque culture and I am happy to be exposing that beautiful culture in my book. I also love to cook Basque cusine and wash it down with my favorite wine, Txakoli. I would love to try Izarra, but I can't find it in the United States (perhaps someone can help me with that too).

Kaixo! My name is Toy.What am I doing here?I have been walking the whole morning in the quiet, pretty streets of Burbank. At a bus kiosk in Alameda St I catch my breath and rest.Earlier in my saunters I had made my le must stop at the library in N.Buenavista St.It is where I can go on-line a maximum of two hours for free. Like a social club or a shopping mall, the library is the best place to watch Americans, how they look like, behave, all that, hoping I could find the standard which I could use in bonding with them, preferably the white locals, not my fellow immigrants.I have never seen so many blond heads in my life, its overwhelming.Bored with cyberspace junk, I take a stately stroll along the rows of magazine racks.American magazines! It’s always felt like attending a glossy seminar on the “American Dream”.(Everybody thinks the American Dream is Hollywood.Balderdash.Its a state-of-mind,it can be in 1st st in downtown L.A.Anyway,magazines are the soul of the nation. They are the reason why I am here, I wanted to be at the source. Its enough consolation for the joblessness I have ben encountering here because of a tough time picking up the locals’ inflection.
Regarding Euskadi, I have a Basque grandfather, a diluted one, but Basque nevertheless. It is no surprise why I got attracted to Blas’ baby.My email address is A-tails@lycos. com. AGUR!

Kaixo. My name is Toy.What am I doing here?I have been walking all morning around Burbank. At a bus stop in Alameda st I ensconced myself to take a breather. I had tarried at the library in N.Buenavista St to surf the internet and relax; later annoyed by the monotony of cyberspace,I sign out and ambled along the rows of magazine racks without which it had no business being called a library.Just looking at the magazine titles is overwhelming, I tell you. They tell you all you need to know about America.
Right now these magazines are my only friends in America, yes, and the books, too, but I have read too many books already I don't know if they made me a better person,or a rich person, a happy contented person.I am not.But I am a man.I don't have a car, thats the bottom line. Most of the people I encounter in Burbank are taciturn, hostile to a point.I don't know why, despite their affluence,Burbankers seem to be an unhappy lot.The locals all look physically alike.Another thing that strikes me are the Latinas and Armenian women in Burbank:their features and bearing are identical, almost like clones. Its flabergasting.
I am digressing.I want to meet a friend from Euskadi.Maybe that's the reason I am here.I don't have a car.I apologize for this stupid monologue. It's still a beautiful world, hey.
